Pipe boot
A flexible collar, usually rubber or a rubber-and-metal combination, that seals where a plumbing vent pipe passes through the roof.
In practice
The rubber collar hardens and splits from UV long before the shingles wear out. A cracked pipe boot is one of the most common causes of a mysterious ceiling stain, and it is one of the cheapest things on a roof to replace.
